Description
Barefoot’s “Physio” is probably the best saddle pad a horse can get. Developed for the demands of long rides, for heavier riders, round horses on which every saddle tends to slip or horses with protruding spinous processes. All “Physio” pads are shaped to accommodate the horse’s spine and offer ideal pressure absorption and distribution. This system offers additional clearance and lift over the spinous processes of the thoracic vertebrae and consists of two components which are pressure absorbing and are connected securely with velcro.
The lower part of the saddle pad is anatomically cut and made from quilted cotton, thinned under the upper thigh for a close leg contact. Pressure absorbing foam fillings can be removed through an easy velcro opening. Two-thirds of the underside is made from artificial rubber and this will stabilise the saddle even on very round horses. The rear one-third is made out of real sheepskin to protect this sensitive area. The sheepskin glides over the horses coat and therefore eliminates potential rubbing under the cantle.
The top layer is made from quilted cotton with a felt underside, poly fleece inside, and a layer of foam on top. This will keep the saddle in place and supplies additional pressure absorption. Velcro straps attach to the saddles D-rings. The “Physio” pad is machine washable at 30 degrees.
