Description
This is Barefoot’s famous “Physio” anatomical riding pad with some extra support for the rider. It has large knee rolls that support the rider’s legs while the high, soft cantle encloses and supports rider at the back. The underside is made of artificial rubber to prevent slipping on the horse’s back.
The underside has additional padding. The riding pad comes with two sets of fillings (one pair from cellular rubber and the other set from soft polyurethane foam). The padded underside gives spinal clearance and also additional protection for the horse’s back. Difficult saddle positions can be balanced by cutting and inserting the fillings where needed.
Barefoot’s riding pads have no stirrup attachments to avoid any pressure on the horse’s back muscles.
With most bareback pads that are on the market, the girth attachment runs straight across the horse’s back and puts pressure on one or two of the spinous processes. Barefoot’s anatomical riding pads are more horse-friendly! The girth straps are concealed and they are mounted centrally on skirts. They therefore distribute pressure over the whole contact area.
Barefoot’s “Physio Support” gives the rider a really secure seat that is close to the horse’s back. It is stable thanks to its non-slip underside.

By the way, the “Physio Support” is not suited for smaller ponies because of its longer saddle flaps and rigging. For ponies like the Shetland, we recommend using our riding pad for kids.
