Description
Barefoot’s “Physio” is a very comfortable riding pad for both the rider and the horse. Riding without a saddle is finally possible without causing pain to your horse.
The “Physio” riding pad has a special, paddable, velcroed-on underside. It comes with 2 different sets of fillings (rubber and soft polyurethane foam) which can be inserted into the underside of the pad.
The fillings ensure spinal clearance and additional protection of the horse’s back.
We therefore recommend our “Physio” riding pad for:
- Older horses
- Horses with visible spinal processes and badly muscled backs
- Heavy riders
- Extremely slim riders
Most bareback pads or riding cushions are rather bad for the horse and cause discomfort rather than comfort, because the girth runs directly across the back and distributes all pressure onto one, maybe two spinous processes.
The Barefoot® ‘Ride-on-Pad’ Physio has a V-girthing which distributes the pressure along the entire pad. We deliberately decided against stirrup attachments as standing in stirrups would lead to pressure points.
The “Physio” riding pad is padded with high density foam in alternating thickness and is very stable on the horse’s back thanks to the artificial rubber underside. The upper side is made from microfiber which ensures good grip for the rider even at speed. The girthing is stabilised by patches, which have real sheep wool on the underside so the girthing does not irritate the coat along the horse’s side. We recommend the use in combination with the Barefoot® sheepskin girth.
