Description
The “Physio Plus” is our best riding pad. It is made from real sheep wool and micro-fibre. It has large knee rolls that support the rider’s legs while the high, soft cantle encloses and supports the rider at the back. The saddle flaps are made from micro-fibres. The underside is made from artificial rubber that prevents slipping on the horse’s back.
The underside has an additional padding. The riding pad comes with 2 sets of fillings (one pair from cellular rubber and the other from soft polyurethane foam). You can cut the fillings and insert them into the riding pad if your horse’s back is unusual. The padded underside gives spinal clearance and also additional protection for the horse’s back.
With most bareback pads, the girth attachment runs straight across the back and puts pressure on one or two of the spinous processes. Barefoot’s riding pads are different, however. The girth straps are concealed and they are mounted centrally on skirts. They therefore distribute pressure over the whole pad area. Our riding pads also have no stirrup attachments to avoid any pressure on the horse’s back muscles.
The “Physio Plus” gives the rider a secure, comfortable seat close to the horse’s back and it is stable on the horse because of its non-slip underside.

This product is made from pure sheep wool and micro-fibre so it’s production is quite animal friendly. Its colour is black (except the fleece which is a natural colour) and it comes in two sizes:
- Small – length 51 cm, flap length 49 cm
- Large – lenght 59 cm, flap length 58 cm
The “Physio plus” is not suited for smaller ponies because of its longer flaps and rigging. For ponies like the Shetland, we recommend our riding pad for kids.
When cleaning, you need to brush out the loose dirt and hair first. Then cold wash by hand. Finally, pull it back into shape. Please do not dry it over a radiator.
