When you’ve found a saddle that you like, the question becomes: what size is right for me? Barefoot’s saddles come in four sizes and it’s actually pretty easy to choose the right size:
- If you have a slim build, choose size 0. (Available only for some saddle models.)
- If you have a medium build, choose size 1.
- If you have a large build, choose size 2.
- If you have a very large build, choose size 3. (Available only for some saddle models.)
Our kids saddles are even smaller than size 0 and they are meant for kids who are 140 cm tall or shorter.
Sometimes a Barefoot saddle might look a little too long for your horse but please keep in mind that you should choose the saddle size based on your measurements and not your horse’s measurements. It is very important that the saddle fits the rider well, so (s)he has enough space between her/his thighs and the pommel, and does not sit on the pommel or the cantle. That would limit the saddle’s flex and adaptability – the saddle would not work properly. Don’t worry too much if the saddle looks a bit too long for your horse’s back. Your horse’s back is actually free from any pressure at the rear of the saddle when you’re riding. The saddle can even be lifted slightly at the cantle with a rider on board.
